Exhibition Archive — Mirza Hamid at Susa Art Gallery

Susa Art Gallery was proud to present an exhibition of works by Iranian street artist Mirza Hamid. The show featured a compelling series of paintings made with natural red earth pigment, the same timeless material used by ancient humans in their earliest artworks. Throughout the exhibition, visitors experienced a unique interplay between raw material and contemplative form, where elemental color and texture invited reflection on memory, identity, and the everyday environment.

Hamid’s work bridges the immediacy and spirit of urban street art with a more introspective gallery presence, reinforcing our gallery’s commitment to showcasing artists who expand the boundaries between public expression and studio practice.

About the Artist — Mirza Hamid

Mirza Hamid is an anonymous Iranian street artist known for his murals and paintings made predominantly with red earth pigment — a historically ancient medium that has appeared in prehistoric cave paintings, Persian pottery, and other early human art forms. Through decades of painting walls across Tehran and other cities, Hamid has created hundreds of public murals that resonate with universal figures and symbolic forms.

Hamid’s practice preserves the raw honesty of street art while engaging with elemental material, making his work both rooted in tradition and strikingly contemporary.

His paintings explore themes of humanity, presence, and connection — using red earth not merely for its pigment but for its deep cultural and historical resonance.
